Tim Hudson put aside the internal turmoil brought on from the death of his grandmother and the death of his former college team mate Josh Hancock, and he pitched one hell of a baseball game.
The Phils starter turned reliever, turned starter again went toe to toe with Hudson pitching his third solid start in a row, the games was full of ground ball outs, double plays and few scoring opportunities.
It came down to the bottom of the ninth, tied at two a-piece when Phillie killer Andruw Jones stepped up to the plate with two men on. Andruw hadn't had good success against Phillie reliever Antonio Alfonseca leading up to last nights game, but he changed all that with one big swing - pounding a three runwalk off homer that handed the Phillies a heartbreaking loss. The other Jones boy had a decent night as well, he hit a solo homerun and scored on Andruws game winning bomb in the ninth.
Cole Hamels will be on the mound for the Phils tonight as they continue to try and figure out how to beat the team that has been their divisional arch enemy and perannial thorn in the side for the last decade and a half.
