It really would have been nice to be able to say that Ryan Howard's three run homerun gave the Phils the boost to both win the game and the series against the Braves before heading out to the west coast.

Unfortunately, the real story in this game was the Braves pitching - both the starter and the pen were solid, despite giving up nine hits to the Phils, the only costly mistake was the homerun to Howard - which wasn't enough to cost Atlanta the game and the edge in the three game series.

After Braves starter Chuck James was lifted in the sixth before recording an out, four Braves relievers combined for four shut out innings giving up only one hit.

Everyone on the left side of the Braves infield doubled, and each extended their respective hitting streaks to twelve games, Renteria had two hits, and Phillie killer Chipper Jones knocked in two.

All in all it was a disappointing game for the Phils, who could have won if they'd capitalized when they had runner's in scoring position.  This continues to be the biggest problem for the Phils who drop to 12-15 on the young season.

Phils make the trip out to San Fran tonight, where all eyes will be on Barry Bonds - Adam Eaton takes the hill coming off a very rough start and Bonds has owned the Phils right hander with eight total hits in 23 career at bats including four homeruns.

Go Phils!
