Neither one of the old men looked like they were going to pitch much of a game at the outset. Tom Glavine walked three batters in the first and Jamie Moyer ended up hitting three batters during his six innings of work, but once both Moyer and Glavine warmed up it was more of the pitching match that I suspected it would be.
On the bright side for the Phils, Jimmy Rollins cracked two home runs in the face of incessant booing, and the elder statesman of the Phils staff became the first pitcher in Philly pinstripes to record 2000 strikeouts since Steve Carlton.
The bad news is, the Phils lost again. Hit batsmen, Wes Helms' defense and Jose Reyes beat the Phillies last night, and to top it off the freakin' Nationals beat the Braves which means the Phils are tied for last place with the absolute worst team in baseball.
A little more good news bad news going into the weekend: Brett Myers on the hill tonight will be looking to redeem himself after getting spanked in his last start, but on the hill for the Astros will be Roy Oswalt. Oswalt is going for his 100th career win so he'll be amped up for the game and his era this year is 1.08 - Oswalt's arm against the Phils struggling bats doesn't leave me with too good a feeling about the start of this series.
